Usource Construction is a minority-woman-owned Small Business Enterprise that builds in the communities our crews come from. That shapes who we hire, who we subcontract to, and what stands on the block long after the trailer comes off the site.
People are the core. Construction is how we serve them.
Most of our clients answer to somebody: a board, a congregation, a council, a group of residents, a funder with conditions attached. The project is never only a building. It is a childcare seat, a unit of affordable housing, a corridor of small businesses that needs foot traffic again.
We were built for that work. Our leadership spent twenty-five years on the public and development side of the table before running a construction company, which means participation goals, prevailing wage, grant compliance and community engagement are not paperwork we learn on your project. They are the reason owners bring us in.
Workforce development
A job on the site, not a line in the report.
Construction is one of the few industries where a person can start without a degree and finish with a licensed trade. We treat every contract as a chance to move somebody along that path, and we build the training and supervision around it so the schedule does not pay for it.

Mount Rainier, Maryland
Decades of flooding on Rhode Island Avenue. Now a park built for the community.
The City of Mount Rainier had a stretch of Rhode Island Avenue that flooded for years. The fix was not only drainage. It was five rain gardens, new storm structures, sidewalks, street reconstruction and a public park the neighborhood actually uses, delivered on a corridor that stayed open the entire time.

Nineteen nonprofits under one roof
Offices, an art gallery, meeting rooms and a teaching kitchen for nineteen organizations, plus a solar awning that cuts the operating cost the tenants have to raise money to cover.

A city facade improvement program along an active retail corridor, sequenced so the merchants kept their doors open and their customers while the work went on around them.

We show up in the community when there is no contract attached.
Ribbon cuttings, neighborhood meetings, women in business and industry events. Being present in the places we build is part of how the company is run, not a marketing calendar.
Certified, and audited on it
The certifications are the easy part. Meeting the goals is the job.
Usource holds eight certifications across the region. They get us onto the bid list. What keeps owners calling back is that the participation commitments attached to those certifications get fulfilled, on every contract, without the owner having to manage it.
